Explaining the costs

Here you can see the total costs for our medical shopping list as well as our total balance. Important to notice is that the costs were higher than the funds collected. Due to the increased danger of the second mission, personal protection equipment had to be purchased. Since the start of the war, many organizations had purchased virtually every available level 4 and 3 armor, as well as their designated plate carriers, across the entire country. This explains the high costs for this equipment. We didn't feel comfortable entering the country without them. Furthermore, our vehicle costs were more expensive this time. The rental place we had received a good deal from last time basically screwed us over. We were late by a few hours, despite driving for almost 48 hours straight.

Nothing really special to mention here about these costs. Some donations had arrived after the final purchases were made, therefore the leftover funds were then carried over for the second medical trip. The only thing worth noting is that personal funds were used to assist the refugee family we had brought with. The German government was still setting up infrastructure for the mass arrival of refugees. This poor family had to go to a refugee center to eat despite having a kitchen. We made the personal decision to fund their food and clothing until the German government was able to provide for them. This took about five weeks.

This is basically our little wishlist. These are need-only items to protect our drivers and also further reduce costs down the road. These have no priority over medicine and medical goods . These are only items we would like to buy down the road - probably will with our own personal funds.
